For the first day of activity in MotoGP, team LCR Honda's Randy de Puniet set the fastest time at Sepang on Tuesday.

That day was filled with incidents and Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa ended his day's running with a big crash at Turn 11.

The Spaniard had been the fastest man up to that point, but the incident resulted in him taken to hospital for checks, which are believed to have confirmed a hairline fracture in his arm.

Italian Valentino Rossi also had a spectacular crash in the morning and thankfully it did not badly hurt his already injured wrist.

Rizla Suzuki rider Chris Vermeulen was third quickest just ahead of his new teammate Loris Capirossi.

The Ducati Marlboro team and Casey Stoner had a somewhat difficult first outing, suffering mechanical problems that limited their work.
