Parts Canada Superbike - Brett McCormick dominates in Shubenacadie

8-12-2009

by moto123.com

Brett McCormick (Suzuki), who qualified on pole for the Superbike and the Pro 600 Sport Bike races, kept his hopes of claiming his first Parts Canada Superbike Championship alive with convincing wins at the Atlantic Motorsport Park this past Sunday.

In Superbike, the Saskatoon rider led 21 of 22 laps around the 2.56km, 11-turn track to take his third victory of the season and, at the same time, gain 10 points on series leader Jordan Szoke, who ended up second, 5.420 seconds behind McCormick. Clint McBain (Suzuki) finished third while Brian Blaauwendraat (Honda) placed a career high fourth.

Szoke now has 296 points in the Parts Canada Superbike point standings to McCormick’s 282 heading into the final round at Shannonville Motorsport Park on the Labour Day weekend. After the races, Szoke admitted that his pace in both races was guided by the Championship points rather than shooting for outright wins, wishing to add to his total of 10 Canadian Championships in all motorcycle disciplines (He just won the 2009 Canadian Trials Championship!).

McCormick also dominated the Pro 600 Sport Bike race, over 7 sec ahead for Szoke, with Kevin Lacombe (Yamaha) a further 7 sec behind.

The final and deciding round takes place in Shannonville Sep 3 to 6.
