Rain has hindered both free practices in preparation of the next MotoGP round that is taken place on the Italian circuit of the Mugello this weekend.

Although showers had stopped before the morning's practice, the damped conditions greeted the riders who went on track. Kawasaki Racing's John Hopkins set the fastest time in front of Loris Capirossi of the Rizla Suzuki Team and his teammate Anthony West.

The morning practice was dominated by riders using Bridgestone as veteran rider Tadayuki Okada made his GP return on a Repsol Honda after quitting the sport at the end of the Australian GP in 2000.
