MotoGP champion Casey Stoner prove that his Desmosedici GP8 was more and more up to the beat as he dominated both practices held on Friday at the Donington Park circuit where will be held the British Grand Prix.

The Australian maintained his position throughout the day and he was never less than six tenths of a second clear of his nearest opposition. Alex De Angelis on his Gresini Honda and Colin Edwards on his Tech 3 Yamaha finished second and third in the morning practice.

Current leader Valentino Rossi managed to be eight while his teammate Jorge Lorenzo struggled on his return to action, down in 14th place, while Dani Pedrosa was only 12th on his Repsol Honda.

In the afternoon, Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi improved greatly their respective times and they were able to finish the day in second and third, taking the places of Colin Edwards and Alex De Angelis who finished fourth and fifth.

Lorenzo, who admitted to have lost a lot of confidence after his crash in Barcelona finished way back in 16th place.
