From MotoGP files

As the season came to a close, all riders confirmed for the 2008 season have been present for at least one testing session. Of those rookies experiencing 800cc riding for the first time, three riders, moving up from 250cc, posted some impressive times and gave us an idea of what could be expected for next season.

Starting with reigning 250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, onboard the 2007 model of the Yamaha M1, who managed to be third on the final timesheets, just ahead of JiR Team Scot rider Andrea Dovizioso.

Another newcomer, Alex de Angelis has also been adapting well to his Bridgestone-shod Gresini Honda machine over the winter.

Last but not least, Superbike champion James Toseland, joined the Yamaha Tech 3 Team to make his debut at Sepang then in Jerez. The Briton has been steadily improving his times, leaving his new team satisfied with their decision to bring in the 27 year-old for 2008.

"My MotoGP initiation is now over," stated Toseland. "It has given me plenty of food for thought for over the winter months. It's pleasing for me to know that I'm going to be competitive at the premier level and feel confident that the team are moving in the right direction for 2008."
