A Canadian Enduro Championship has been created

11-11-2008

by René Fagnan , Auto123.com

Canadians will finally have a Canadian Enduro Championship (CEC) in 2009 and beyond. A four-event, 8-race series organized by World Enduro Canada (WEC) has been created and will visit Canada next year.

World Enduro Canada's objective is to bring professional off road racing to a national level consistent with what is realized at the World Championships.

The competition format is based on the World Enduro Championship with 3 different (Cross, Extreme and Enduro) timed special tests and shorter loops of trails connecting the test.

CEC has secured sponsorship from the 6 major manufacturers and are expecting the aftermarket to get on board as well. The value riders have to sponsors increased overnight, the plan is improve the market ability of Canadian riders, give sponsors good return on their investment, stimulate the off-road motorcycle market, decide who the fastest off-road riders in Canada are in both Pro and Amateur classes, provide spectators entertainment and most of all give the competitors an overall positive experience.

We have incentives in place for riders to travel to the four events, which are scored separately each of the two days. We have arranged a motorcycle transportation package in place through sponsor Brian Kurtz Trucking.

For $700 a bike, gear bag, 2 spare tires or pop-tent will be transported to each of the 2 'Away' events and back. Motorycles will be delivered to each event site. Also any Canadian-based rider who crosses the Manitoba / Ontario border and competes in the entire series gets a free entry to the 'away' events. Entry fees are set at $100 per event; each competitor must purchase or rent a transponder for $40 and join the MCC.

2009 schedule (dates and locations are subject to change at this early time):
July 4/5 Pincher Creek AB
July 11/12 Okanogan Valley BC
September 12/13 Quebec TBA
September 19/20 Parry Sound, Ontario
