Ed: In yesterday's Racing section, Guy Giroux reported on the first Enduro of the 2009 Quebec Championship. He mentioned a Brian W., one of those feared ringers who come in from outside Quebec to play with our boys, and beat them in this case.
A few hours after posting Guy's story, we received a press release from Brian Wojnarowski, the very Brian W. that Guy was talking about, telling his side of the story. Here it is.
----------
FMSQ Round # 1 Endurocross 3rd place May 9/2009
FMSQ Round # 1 Harescramble 1st place May 10/2009
My father and I left Friday afternoon to go to Granby, Quebec for some racing and to catch up with some friends we made at the ISDE last year. Unfortunately about 2 hrs into the trip we received a phone call that my Grandfather was taken to the hospital my ambulance. My father took a taxi home and I continued to Quebec. My grandfather is O.K. now.
Saturday it rained heavily and made things really muddy. On Saturday evening I competed in my first endurocross. I finished 2nd in my qualifier. In the main I had a good start then made a big mistake that cost many positions. I passed my way up to third at the finish. It was fun to try this type of racing.
Sunday was the harescramble. The course consisted of mud, roots and rocks. The Pro class consisted of approx 20-25 entries. I got the holeshot and halfway through the first lap Guy Giroux and I began to battle for the remainder of the race. We swapped positions probably 20 times. I ended up winning by a few seconds. Guy is tough and provided me the most intense race I have ever had (much respect for him). I believe we both intended on winning. It was fun! My bike worked perfect for both events despite the terrible conditions.
I can't say enough good things about the FMSQ series and the people that I met. It was very professional and a great atmosphere.
I would like to thank my sponsors for there support:
Yamaha Canada, Toyota, Machine Racing, Landing Gear Suspension, LB Graphics, Trail Tours Dirtbike/ATV school and Electrosport.
