AMA SBK: Superbike action returns at Auto Club Speedway

3-24-2010

by Marc Cantin , moto123.com

The AMA Superbike series will now head to California for the second round of the Pro Road Racing championship at California's Auto Club Speedway this coming week-end, starting Friday, March 26.

This Californian meeting will feature two full days of racing, with practice and qualifying beginning on Friday at the 2.36-mile combination speedway/road course. Saturday, March 27th will see more qualifying and the first of two AMA Pro National Guard American SuperBike races while the second will be on Sunday, March 28th.

After an historic two-race Daytona sweep for Jake Zemke (Suzuki) in Superbike, all eyes will be focused on whether the California native can build on his fast start to the season with his new team, Michael Jordan Racing, and build upon his championship points lead.

Yamaha riders Ben Bostrom, Josh Hayes and Chris Clark are amongst the favourites, despite Daytona performances did not meet their expectations. Suzuki’s Tommy Hayden, who finished second in both Daytona races, will also be right up with the lead pack.
