Davi Millsaps (Honda) took his first win in nearly two years at the fifth round of 2010 AMA Supercross Championship Series presented Saturday night in San Diego, on a soft and rutted track after two days of rain in the area.


Josh Hill (Yamaha) took advantage of a crash by Honda’s Andrew Short to move into third place, and then passed Ivan Tedesco (Yamaha) with two laps to go to claim his third-straight runner-up finish of the season. Tedesco held on for third, his first podium of the year.

After three-straight podiums to start the season, series points-leader Ryan Dungey (Suzuki) finished off the box for the second race in a row. After sliding out in the first turn and then crashing again before the end of the opening lap, Dungey managed to work his way up into six by the end of the race. Unfortunately for him, his16-point lead in the series standings has now shrunk to a mere four points over Hill going into the next round in Anaheim.

Last week’s winner Ryan Villopoto also got a bad start, but was able to salvage a fourth on his Monster Energy Kawasaki and sits in third overall, 10 points down from Dungey.
