BRP wins "Popular Science" award for its iControl technology

by moto123.com

BRP has been named the "Grand Award Winner" by Popular Science Magazine in the annual "Best of What's New" category, for the 2009 Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS watercraft with iControl technology.

iControl, the world's most advanced watercraft technology, seamlessly integrates a host of new ECU-controlled features such as:

• Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC), whch allows the ECU to manage throttle opening to optimize throttle response as well as fuel economy, to minimize pollution and optimize performance

• The world’s first Intelligent Suspension (iS) in the marine industry, which allows the hull to move independently of the upper deck. Six inches of travel isolate the rider and passenger from wave shocks. The system includes electrically adjustable spring preload via a rocker switch, to make easy to optimize the suspension for load and riding conditions

• iBR, the only braking technology on a watercraft, increases the level of safety as well as making the machines easier and safer to handle. A lever on the left side of the steering stops the engine, deploys a reverse deflector and then restarts the engine. The jet pump now shoots the water forward and slows the watercraft down, much like reverse thrust does on a large aircraft

Well done BRP!
