BMW Motorrad Canada and Rush HD jump into Canadian Superbike for 2010

2-11-2010

by Marc Cantin , moto123.com

BMW Motorrad Canada confirmed this week that it will be fielding a two-rider Superbike team in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship for 2010. They also announced that Rush HD will be the title sponsor of the newly named Rush HD/BMW Motorrad Canada Superbike Team.

For those of us who are not completely with-the-program on such things, Rush HD is “Canada’s only high-octane, no fear, no limits extreme sports adventure HD channel”. The team press release also mentions that “Rush HD is part of Canada’s leading HD broadcaster and production enterprise… providing Canadians with best-in-class non-fiction programming on the themes of Nature, Culture and Adventure.”

Both BMW riders from last season, Francis Martin and Michael Ferreira, will be in the hot seat in 2010, aiming for Superbike victories on the new BMW S 1000 RR superbike.

Francis Martin has won two Canadian Superbike Championships, in 1999 and 2005, along with another National title in 2002, the Pro Open Sportbike Championship.

Michael Ferreira will be making his Superbike debut in 2010, and returns as the longest serving rider on the team, after racing the BMW boxer twins in Canadian Thunder and Pro Sportbike classes since 2007.

Another great bit of team news is the arrival of Patrice Goyette as builder and likely Crew Chief for the team. Goyette recently worked for Clint McBain, and was Martin's first mechanic at the start of his career.
