How pistons work (part 2)

8-5-2008

by Henri Lebarbé , moto123.com

If there's blueish smoke coming from the tailpipes, most likely during gear shifts, you should be alarmed. No miracle solution exists; the engine has to be taken down and thoroughly inspected. Repairs will be costly, especially if you have to replace one of the pistons in addition to the rings. Increasing the cylinder bore might also prove necessary, not to mention replacing the oil, filter, spark plug and seals. Expect to shell out over $1,000.
