The 18 year old racer from Saskatchewan is testing on the front running Superbikes for the American team today (Thursday, April 1) at Infineon, just North of San Francisco. Jake Zemke also rides for MJR, and leads the 2010 AMA Superbike Championship, with two wins at Daytona, and second and fourth place finishes at Autoclub Fontana last weekend.

This fantastic opportunity for the young Canadian came up when Aaron Yates broke his right leg in the Sunday morning warm-up session at Fontana last weekend. MJR is looking for a rider to step in for the next two AMA double header week ends, April 16 to 18 at Road Atlanta and May 14 to 16 at Infineon. The team will make a decision after the two-day test based on McCormick’s results. Yates is expected to be back for Road America on June 4 to 6.

McCormick made this happen by paying his own way to Daytona for the 200 and the two Superbike races with Picotte Racing, and to Fontana where he rented a Superbike ride from Celtic Racing, where he finished 7th in the Sunday Superbike race on a lightly prepared GSX-R1000. The right people noticed his speed and maturity, and he was called when the first opportunity presented itself.

We will keep you posted daily on the results of the two-day test.
