2015 Chironex Sachs Madass 125 Preview

8-19-2015

by Guillaume Rivard , moto123.com

The German-designed and engineered Sachs Madass 125 is unlike any other two-wheeler you have ever seen and brings a ton of attitude to the Canadian market, where it is sold as a member of the Chironex family. It beautifully fills a niche between metropolitan-type scooters and entry-level street bikes such as the SYM Symba 100 (arguably its closest competitor) and Honda Grom.

Madass, the name says it all
I mean, just look at the pictures! With a bare-bones physique and rugged features, this compact street bike is exactly what it sounds like. Fire it up using either the electric starter or kick starter, and you will immediately feel the character of its air-cooled, 120cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine. A 4-speed transmission with a clutch handles the 8 hp, and top speed is rated at 90 km/h.

These specifications are typically found on medium-displacement scooters, but the Sachs Madass 125 is anything but, starting with the fact that it doesn’t have a step-through design. The hydraulic discs and 16” wheels at both ends are other motorcycle cues. At the same time, easy handling is ensured by a curb weight of just 100kg (220lb).

But again, we have to go back to styling, which is truly unique and raw in nature. Take a moment to marvel at the tubular frame/tank assembly with big “Madass” lettering, fully exposed exhaust, brake and fuel lines, contrasting brake callipers, stacked dual circular headlights (framed by brackets), and ultra-minimalist gauge cluster. The list goes on.

Are you “Madass” enough to own one?
Available in black, red, white or dark grey, the 2015 Chironex Sachs Madass 125 starts at $2,699. Add a storage rack for extra cargo or a set of alloy wheels for even more flair, and prepare to turn heads everywhere you go.
