Kawasaki introduces the next-generation ER-6n for 2012. The engine, design, and ergonomics have all been improved, while a brand new frame makes this aggressively priced naked bike more rider-friendly than ever.

Tighter and firmer
If you think the ER-6n hasn't changed at first glance, you need to take a closer look. Beyond the slightly revised body lines is a new frame and upgraded swingarm that combine with a narrower chassis and more accommodating rider's seat to make this Kawasaki easier and more pleasant to ride.

More specifically, the perimeter frame and high-tensile steel swingarm enhance the machine's handling, stability, and overall dynamics. The offset single shock with adjustable preload still can't be missed. and its settings (not to mention the fork's) have been thoroughly revised for superior comfort.

More flexible
Kawasaki did not revolutionize the engine, but they've made some fundamental changes to improve its flexibility. That's great news for beginners as well as riders who don't want to have to shift gears all the time. The 649cc parallel twin-cylinder gained a few pound-feet of torque where it matters the most, resulting in livelier acceleration and a power delivery that's easier to exploit.

Elsewhere, the new instrument panel displays range, average fuel consumption and fuel level.

Bottom line
A new 2012 Kawasaki ER-6n will soon grace showrooms, offering a friendlier, more comfortable package that provides unprecedented excitement on the road. The outgoing model already proved quite pleasant to ride, so we're extremely eager to test the new one.
