2011 Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4x4 Preview

1-4-2011

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

Nicely equipped
Kawasaki was the first manufacturer to equip ATVs with a sealed, wet, multi-disc rear brake system more than 10 years ago. It improves endurance and requires less maintenance than a traditional disc or drum system since the brake is lubricated and protected against mud and dirt at all times. Up front are two hydraulically-controlled 200-mm discs.
The base, LE and LE Camo models ride on a double-wishbone suspension and four Kayaba shocks that provide 190 mm of travel at all corners. The last two also feature a half-windshield, a cab top and two retractable cup holders. The LE gets a Metallic Nocturne Blue paint, while the Camo sports Camouflage Real Tree APG on the body panels, bumpers, top and wheels.

Sport and SSE models add aluminum wheels (each one contributing to a 900-gram reduction in unsprung weight). The latter further stands out with rear shocks featuring piggyback reservoirs that allow preload, compression and rebound adjustments.

Predictions for 2012

Honestly, we don't know what Kawasaki has in store for 2012, but rumour has it that an electric power steering and a new 500-cc utility model with EFI and fully-independent suspension are on the way. If that's the case, the void between the KVF 360 and Brute Force 650 would be wonderfully filled.

Some have also speculated about a new 250-cc sport ATV designed for aspiring racers. It would likely prove cheaper and more rider-friendly than the mighty KFX450R.

As soon as we get the official word from Kawasaki, we'll let you know.
