Tamer?
The 2008 model benefits from revised engine electronic management in order to offer a slightly "tamer" powerband, making the SXV 5.5 suitable for daily use on public roads. While the engine loves to rev, this motorcycle is still pleasant to ride in the city. It does not fear tight spots and crowded streets. I found it just as easy to park as a scooter and, thanks to the ridiculous weight, I had no problems moving the bike with the engine turned off.

The dressed-up motocross styling generates a lot of curiosity; onlookers are impressed, regardless if they're moto enthusiasts or not. In fact, the SXV leaves no one indifferent.

Multiple improvements
For 2008, the Aprilia SXV benefits from a few cosmetic changes, especially in terms of colors. Also new are the higher-capacity fuel tank, the manual choke for easier starts, the antifriction treatment on the fork stanchions and the longer-stroke throttle lever for improved riding precision. The new Magura handlebar is very ergonomic, while the radiator deflectors allow you to firmly squeeze the tank between your legs. The thin, rigid seat doesn't seem to know what comfort is, but it allows excellent rider movement for aggressive riding, so I guess it's a fair trade. God bless twists and turns!

Instrumentation is surprising. The SXV 5.5 sports a fully-digital instrument panel, with a switch near the left handlebar that allows you to get the information you want without taking your hands off. As for the exhaust system, engineers niftily hid it under the rear fender, enhancing styling while preventing damage during a fall. What's more, this unique system sounds pretty sweet, making the riding experience that more enjoyable.
